While both teams exhibit phenomenal talent, the commitment and financial requirements differ along with performance opportunities.

 

We will soon be holding tryouts for competition dancers for the ‘25-‘26 season so be sure to follow our Instagram for the latest updates! However, members must be accepted onto the exhibition team prior to auditioning for competition. This is a 2 step process.

Maryland Manzar accepts exhibition team auditions throughout the year, including summer and winter break. You may choose to audition for exhibition prior to fall semester and still audition for comp in September. While this does not increase your chances of getting onto comp, it may be more convenient and less time consuming. Exhibition dancers may also have the opportunity to move up to comp team during the fall semester.

Select a choreography to learn: Bollywood or Kuthu. We have provided the links to the tutorial and full-speed videos for both below. After familiarizing yourself with the choreography, you can email or direct message us to schedule office hours with our choreo team if needed. Any questions or concerns about the audition piece can be addressed during this session.

After you are confident in your piece, please send your audition video to marylandmanzar@gmail.com as an unlisted YouTube link. Supplement videos can also be submitted, such as past solo performances/practices showcasing other dance styles.
